Northam announces administration appointments

RICHMOND — Governor-elect Ralph Northam announced Dec. 28 key appointments for senior leadership positions within his administration.
Kelly Thomasson will continue serving the Northam administration as secretary of the commonwealth. Traci DeShazor will continue serving as deputy secretary of the commonwealth. Keyanna Conner will join the administration as secretary of administration.
Grindly Johnson will serve as deputy secretary of administration. She was appointed deputy secretary of transportation by Gov. Terry McAuliffe in 2014. Joe Damico will serve as director of general services. According to a press release, Damico has served as deputy director of general services since 2002. He has advanced the agency’s service support to public bodies, businesses and citizens of the commonwealth in a wide array of services. In addition, he has been involved in historic building renovation, new construction and maintenance and operation of executive buildings and grounds at Capitol Square. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics/computer science from Longwood College. Damico has also earned a master’s degree in health administration and a master’s degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
