A fire at a home off of Route 720 on Friday resulted in a total loss of the dwelling, a single-wide trailer.
“The fire came in at 3:41 p.m. for Randolph, Farmville (Fire Department) and Cumberland (Volunteer Fire Department) for a house fire at 44 Randolph Terrace,” said Dan Pempel, lieutenant of the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department. “On receiving the call, we added Hampden-Sydney (Volunteer Fire Department) for another tanker.”
“On arrival of the first fire companies, the fire had already burnt the left side of the trailer and was burning under the trailer,” Pempel said. “The fire was quickly brought under control, and the fire units were there till 6:48 p.m. The trailer was a total loss.”
Pempel said after consulting with the homeowner that there was no status of where an occupant of the home is currently residing.
A cause of the fire had not been confirmed, Pempel said.
