Melissa Lea McLemore, 40, of Campbell Hill Road, Prospect, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. She was the devoted and loving wife to Daniel Shawn McLemore and mother to Ellie Grace McLemore.
Born in Richmond on August 30, 1977, she was a daughter of Wilma Bohling Carr House and step-father Gary of Powhatan, and Lawrence Carr Jr. of Newport News. In addition to her husband, daughter and parents, she is survived by four sisters; Aimee Demers and husband, John of Virginia Beach, Rachel Fiorello and husband, James of Henrico, Stephanie White and husband, Kevin of Summerville, SC and Angela Nail of Martinsville, VA and one brother; Patrick Blackburn and wife, Jennifer of Stanley, NC. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother Mary Ester Sara Beisel (Nana) of Virginia Beach and mother-in-law Phyllis Goin of Prospect and a huge extended family. She grew up in Virginia Beach and lived in Powhatan, VA, Holiday, FL and Tampa, FL before moving to Prospect, VA. Melissa is a member of Farmville Baptist Church, M.O.P.S. and a former member of the Farmville Junior Women’s Club. She was a graduate of Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA and Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA. Melissa was a kind and generous friend to everyone she met. Her caring spirit, amazing strength and truly generous nature was an inspiration to those around her. She was also an incredible mother who filled her daughter with love.
The family would like to thank the many generous family and friends who have shown an overwhelming amount of love and caring through their time, friendship, food and donations. Melissa truly felt your love and overwhelming generosity especially these last few months.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am., Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home in Appomattox, with Rev. Ronnie Kiehm officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Robinson Funeral. Refreshments will be served after interment.
