Dennis M. Critzer Sr. 91, of Gasburg, VA joined our heavenly father with family by his side on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents William & Susie Critzer of Schuyler, VA, his precious daughter, Katharine Denise, his brothers Herbert, George and Clyde and sisters Nora Payne and Aileen McClary. Survived by Ann Scruggs Critzer, his loving wife of 69 years, sons Dennis M Critzer Jr. (Beatrice) and Kimball Scott Critzer (Deborah) grandchildren Christopher, Jason, Corey, Brian, Allison Critzer & Brittany Hines (Luke); sister-in-law, Zella Fencl and several nieces and nephews and his beloved lab, Duke.
Dennis was a very proud WWII U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the South Pacific Theatre. He continued serving his country as an officer in the Civil Air Patrol and remained an active general aviation pilot until the early 1990s. Golf, another life passion, remained with him through his final year.
Though a recipient of many awards, his most accomplished was the Champion of the 1st Baskerville Bowl Tournament in Farmville, VA. Dennis was a founder and owner of Farmville Insulation Co., Rusco Window Co. of Farmville & Petersburg, and The Floor Shop, of Petersburg, which was in business for 45 years.
Dennis and Ann retired to Gasburg, VA on beautiful Lake Gaston where he enjoyed many lake activities including being a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and an active member of Lake Gaston Golf Club. Dennis also enjoyed being with his family, including boating with his sons and grandchildren.
Family will have a visitation on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 from 2-3 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 175 Ankum Rd., Gasburg, VA. Family will have a second visitation on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. in Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, VA with an interment and committal service to follow in Westview Cemetery, Farmville, VA officiated by Rev. Greg Hand, PHCC.
