Students in Mrs. Reames’ Introduction to Health Occupations class enjoyed listening to a presentation from Mrs. Stephanie Currin from Southside Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) according to a press release. Students were provided with educational and career information as well as hands-on experience in examining healthy and diseased lungs. Seventh and eighth-grade students from the middle school who noted an interest in the medical field through a career survey were also invited to visit the nursing lab to hear and participate in the presentation.
“Students were eager to learn more about a career in nursing and a field trip to the STEM-H center in Halifax is being planned,” officials said in the release. “Pictured are, from left, DaNasia Dupuy, Quinaijah Stokes, Jaquera Smith, J’Tae Hardy, Mo’Nayzha Chambers, Kyla Edmonds, Arionna Bigelow-Watson and Stephanie Currin (SVHEC).”
