Libby Morris named assistant coach at James Madison

Former Longwood University and Buckingham County High School softball standout Libby Morris has joined the softball staff at James Madison University (JMU) as a full-time assistant coach.
A JMU press release noted that Morris will focus on pitching in her new job.
“I am excited to get back to Virginia, and eager to start this new journey with JMU,” she said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great staff and team, and I can’t wait to see what the upcoming season has in store. Go Dukes!”
School officials said in the release that “Morris comes to JMU after spending a year at Jacksonville University as a graduate assistant manager before being promoted to assistant coach in the summer of 2017. The former Longwood University standout took over the pitching coach duties for the Dolphins after her promotion to assistant coach.”
The release also highlighted some of her achievements while serving as a pitcher at Longwood, including helping the Lancers earn a pair of Big South Championship titles and two NCAA Regional appearances. Her stellar pitching career included 61 games won.
