Holliday Lake State Park will be holding, “First Day Hikes,” on Jan. 1 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m, according to a press release. At 10 a.m. park interpreters and visitors will explore seemingly disconnected winter wonders at Holliday Lake.
At 1 p.m., a guided hike around Lakeshore Trail will include stops at Northridge Overlook, Holliday Creek, and the famous 50 foot tall Holliday Lake Dam.
The release cited that comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and warm clothes are recommended for both hikes.
“Parking is free at all Virginia State Parks this day,” officials said in the release. “Self-guided opportunities such as Park Packs, Geocaching, and Scavenger Hunts are also available upon request. Please contact us in advance if you plan to bring a large group or have any questions about the program.”
