The Fuqua Senior Band recently hosted its first “Night of Jazz” concert and fundraiser. The night was a tremendous success with over 80 people in attendance and earning over $2,000 for the band program. Guests enjoyed great food and music. The band, under the direction of teachers Camille Rabon and Tyler Gage performed a variety of styles of music. This included hits such as Superstition, 25 or 6 to 4 and swing classics such as Jumpin’ at the Woodside and My Funny Valentine. The upbeat and popular music really highlighted the superior musicianship of the 24 students involved. The performance also included soloists throughout the night. Many of the attendees of the event shared how impressed they were with the overall quality of the music and what an enjoyable evening they had. Most said they look forward to inviting more friends to the next “Night of Jazz” event. Fuqua School hopes that this is a start of a new Fuqua tradition.
