Christmas decoration contest set

The Prospect Historical Society is sponsoring a Christmas decoration contest for your door, house or yard. There will be three prizes. This is for anyone who lives within 10 miles of Prospect. You need to enter before Dec.  1 and the judging will take place Dec. 19 after dark. Send your fee, name, telephone number, address and complete driving directions to your home from Prospect Fire House to Margaret Stockton, sec’y, 10379 Prince Edward Highway, Prospect. Brianna Smith and her infant daughter, Natalie spent Sunday afternoon visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith.

On Monday evening, Faith Bible Fellowship small group met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith for a monthly covered dish dinner. Attending were Mrs. Hilde Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard McClintock and Mr. and Mrs. John Utzinger.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and their children, Charles Jr., Christina, Brianna and Josh Guill and Natalie.

On Nov. 18 Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Bolt held a birthday party for their son Jacob who turned 5-years-old Nov. 21. There were eight to 10 children present for the party. Grandma Linda Eikmeier, of Henrico, helped with the party as did Dennis and Patty Jones, of Pamplin.

The fellowship hall of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle was the scene of the beautiful baby shower for Mrs. Jennifer Jones on Nov. 18 given by Mrs. Judy Bolt, Ms. Alexa Moser and Mrs. Shirley Robertson. There were about 26 people in attendance to help shower Jennifer with all kinds of baby things. Two of her young cousins, Payden and Haley Murdock and two of their friends, Hannah and Jordan Poythress did the decorating and clean-up.

On Nov. 19 following church services at Appomattox P.E., the Rev. Buddy Woodson enjoyed a meal with some of his family at the home of Mrs. Judy Bolt. Those attending were: Garland Woodson, Flora Bolt, Douglas Bolt, Betty Jean Bolt, Steve Bolt, Haley Murdock and Sharon Canterbury.

Richard and Margaret Stockton along with their daughter in-law, Mary Jo traveled to Richmond on Saturday after which Richard and Margaret attended the dinner at the Prospect Fire House.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Lon Stockton, Frances Southall, Randy Martin, Frances P. Motley of Hampton and Betty Jean Bolt.

Neighbors and friends are extending their heartfelt sympathy to the family of Wm. Crawley Kreye Ph.D, P.E.

The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday. The Harlan Austin will fill the pulpit Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Kemper Beasley III will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

The Remnant Church invites you to worship with them on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.; and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer. The church is located at 1825 E. Third St. in Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building.
