A member of a road work crew was hospitalized after being struck by a dump truck on Route 15 on Sunday. Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.

A road work crew member was admitted to the University of Virginia (U.Va.) Hospital after being struck by a dump truck Sunday morning.

William Osborne, 20, of Mouth of Wilson, was working with a construction company to strip the northbound lane in the area of 14906 Farmville Road near Meherrin to repave it when he was struck by a dump truck on the site, according to Virginia State Police.

Troopers on scene said the dump truck was backing to reach a milling truck.

Police said Sunday that Osborne was transported to U.Va. Hospital and appeared to be in stable condition.

Troopers said they were notified of the incident at 11:12 a.m.

Charges are pending against the driver of the truck, police said.
