Edmunds begins hunting award

HALIFAX — Del. James Edmunds, R-Halifax, is sponsoring the First Sportsman of the Year award for 2017.
According to a press release, each hunting club will pick from its membership one person who will be declared their “Member of the Year” based on their overall sportsmanship and the winner will receive $100 from Edmunds’ campaign.
“Then, each ‘Member of the Year’ will be eligible to win the overall ‘Sportsman of the Year,’ for an additional $250 and additional prizes,” Edmunds said. “The overall winner will be picked by a committee based on a statement written by each club president as to why their member should be considered the Sportsman of the Year.”
The release cited to be eligible, each club must register their club by submitting the hunting club name and location, president’s name and contact information, the number of members and the year the club was established to P.O. Box 1115 Halifax, Va. 24558.
The release cited any hunting club established prior to 2017 and consisting of 10 or more members may be eligible.
