Zachary James Saunders

Zachary James Saunders, 31, of Cumberland passed away Sept. 21, 2017 peacefully at home. He was born April 4, 1986, the son of Ronald and Cynthia (Jones) Saunders.

Zachary was a 13-year employee of Green Front Furniture and deeply cared for by all of his co-workers. He was an avid sports fan and had a passion for fishing. Zach had many friends and a big loving family with seven nephews and one niece.

Zachary is survived by his parents Ronald and Cindy Saunders of Cumberland; his older brother Joshua Saunders of Cumberland, his older sister Rachel Saunders (Keith) Jennings of Appomattox, and younger sister, Jordan Saunders (Dane) Acton of Richmond. He also leaves maternal grandparent Janice Jones of Triangle; and his paternal grandparents, Paul and Kathryn Lockner of Farmville. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by close friends and longtime caregivers Richard (Dick) and Regina Fahrner of Cumberland. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather James Chris Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1835 Cumberland Road, Farmville, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Dale Brown presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
