An event that promises wines from four Virginia wineries, live music, fresh cuisine and a good time will benefit a local cause Saturday.
The second annual “Vino in the Village” is set for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Historic Village at Lee Wayside off of U.S. Route 60 east of Buckingham Court House.
General admission is $10, according to Martha Louis, Historic Buckingham Inc. (HBI) president. Tasters will be charged $15 per person, which includes a glass. Children 12 and under can enter for free. Cash or check will be accepted for admission only.
The Historic Village is located at 84 Lee Wayside Road. Proceeds will benefit HBI, which operates a living history museum at Lee Wayside and a museum in Buckingham Court House.
Louis said whether one is a wine connoisseur or not, there are activities to enjoy at the event.
“(There is) something for everyone,” Louis said.
HBI and the Buckingham Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring the event.
Feng Sway will perform jazz and the Farm Use String Band, of Pamplin, will play on the village stage.
Wineries will come from Bright Meadow Farm Vineyard, of Nathalie, DeVault Family Vineyards, of Concord, Thistle Gate Vineyard, of Scottsville, and Three Sisters of Shiney Rock, of Clarksville.
Cuisine will be provided by Pino’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, Spice Sea Gourmet, B-n-B-Que Catering and Delish Cupcakes. Cheese and fruit boxes and Amish baked goods will also be available.
A fine arts show during the event will include jewelry, painting, woodwork and pottery among other activities.
“The Historic Village at Lee Wayside offers a beautiful wooded venue surrounded by history,” Louis said in a statement. “The natural amphitheater is perfect for a picnic lunch enjoying the great sounds of Feng Sway, (a) premier jazz group from Farmville, and Farm Use String Band, (a) well-known bluegrass group from Pamplin, and eating a lobster roll or calzone or barbecue while sipping some of Central Virginia’s best wines.”
Activities for children will be provided by Buckingham Public Library, and Buckingham Family Dentistry is sponsoring the music.
