Grand jury indicts five

A grand jury in Prince Edward County handed down indictments for five men on charges stemming from abduction and child sex related-incidents.
Luis Eduardo Herrera, 23, of Farmville, was indicted for rape by force or threat, sodomy of helpless victim by force, abduction with intent to defile and bomb or burn threat charges.
He has a trial set for Dec. 14. A hearing for four other charges — including assault and battery against a family member and violation of a protective order — was continued from Tuesday to Dec. 14.
Herrera was originally arrested in January, according to online court documents.
Parker Lamar Orfield, 59, of Rice, was indicted on charges including filming child porn, indecent act with child by parent and aggravated sexual battery with victim less than 13 years old. His trial is set for Dec. 7.

“The investigation began after a complaint was filed with the sheriff’s office on April 6 in reference to the sexual assault of a 7-year-old female,” the police in Prince Edward said in an earlier press release.
Mark Edward Williams, 34, of Prospect, was indicted on a charge of abduction by intimidation/force, malicious wounding, two charges of non-violent felony possession of a gun within 10 years of being convicted of a felony, first and second offenses of use of firearm in a felony and point or brandish firearm. His trial is set for Nov. 16.
Williams was originally arrested June 9 in connection to the abduction and assault of a 23-year-old man. According to police, Williams and Jeremiah L. Mays, 26, of Farmville, were arrested after Prince Edward County deputies received a complaint regarding the incident on June 6. The release cited the victim was assaulted by multiple subjects in the Prospect area.
Jeffrey Lazenby was indicted on nine charges of proposing a sexual act to a child who is older than 15 years old through use of communication systems. According to online court documents, a capias — which is a writ ordering the arrest of a named person — was issued for Lazenby.
Guy Eugene Neese was indicted on four charges of possession of child pornography. According to online court documents, a capias was also issued for Neese.
