Annual yard sale set for Oct. 7

Beulah United Methodist Church will host a free yard sale Friday starting around 7:45 a.m. at the church. All items at the sale are free. People can make donations and the donations will be used for the County Line Faces in Abilene. There will be clothing of all sizes, toys, books, etc.

The Prospect Historical Society will meet Tuesday at the Prospect Fire House at 7:30 p.m.

Richard and Margaret Stockton enjoyed an evening at Longwood University on Monday listening to The U.S. Army Blues Jazz Band and the Longwood University Jazz Ensemble. The Longwood University Jazz Ensemble preformed first and they were very good.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Fredericksburg last weekend to attend Jeff’s 50th Stafford High School Reunion. The reunion was held at the Fredericksburg Hospitality House Hotel and Conference Center. Jeff enjoyed reconnecting with former friends and classmates.

Betty and Don Meadows visited with Carol and Bill Schall at their home Sunday afternoon.

Last week, luncheon guests of Betty Sumner were her nephew Malcolm Anderson, of Orlando, Florida, and great-nephew Chad Anderson, of Powhatan.

Peggy Kelsey attended the memorial service for Walter “Shorty” Sims on Saturday at College Church in Hampden-Sydney.

On Sept. 18 Mrs. Flora Bolt started her birthday celebrations. Flora received calls from family and friends, which made her day very special. Flora received some very special calls from her nephew and his wife, Buddy and Lois Woodson, as they sang Happy Birthday from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

A dear friend Marie Self, of Scottville; high school friend Marie Buckman, of North Carolina; and a cousin Jane Elton, of Florida, were part of her celebration. Flora received 25 birthday cards and many nice gifts.

Stacy Bolt visited with her grandmother, Flora, on Monday afternoon. Steve Bolt and Sharon Canterbury treated Flora to dinner at Merk’s Place. Joining them was Ashley Bolt. Sharon made it a little special by bringing cupcakes.

On Sept. 21, the birthday girls met at Merk’s Place for a birthday lunch. Those celebrating were Mrs. Flora Bolt, Irene Layne, Betty and Don Meadows, Lois and John Gager and Liz and T.M. Manis.

Mrs. Jennifer Jones and Mrs. Flora Bolt joined Mrs. Judy Bolt for lunch Sunday following church.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Sean Stockton, Carol Schall, Frances P. Motley, of Hampton, and Betty Jean Bolt.

The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department will host its 57th Annual Harvest Sale on Oct. 7 at the Prospect Fire House. The yard sale starts at 7 a.m., bake sale will take place from 7 a.m. until the auction at 1 p.m. There will also be a barbecue supper at 4 p.m.

Mt. Nebo Baptist Church will be holding a revival on Oct. 1-5 at 7 p.m. each night. Everyone is invited.

The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will fill the pulpit Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Robert Hall will be with them Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evenings for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The Church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

The Remnant Church invites you to worship with them Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m., Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. The pastor is Jeff Spencer. The church is located at 1825 E. Third St. in Farmville in the old Cedar Brook Restaurant building.
