The Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Minors All-Star team, representing Virginia, lost 9-5 to Louisiana on Monday, eliminating the squad from the 2017 Dixie Youth Baseball AAA Minor League World Series in Oxford, Alabama.

The game against Louisiana began Sunday afternoon but was interrupted by rain and stopped in the top of the fourth inning with Virginia in the lead 5-3.

Virginia Manager Jerry Morgan was looking for improvement from his team after its 10-2 loss to Arkansas on Saturday, and he saw it Sunday afternoon, noting there was “a whole lot of difference from yesterday — better defense and offense.”

Play resumed Monday at 1 p.m. EST, and Louisiana was able to come back for the victory.

The PEFYA Minors All-Stars finished the summer with only three losses, going undefeated in their district tournament and becoming the first PEFYA Minors team to ever win the state championship.
