Lois Arlene Slayton Carter McConnell, 93, of Roanoke passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. She was born on February 3, 1924 in Farmville, and was the child of William Henry and Mary Ann Slayton. She was married in 1948 to Cloyd (Mack) McConnell. They were married for 52 years and had two daughters, Dreama (Andrew) Wolff and Denise (Michael) Bailey. There are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
During World War II, Lois worked for DuPont in Richmond. She obtained her RN degree from the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in Roanoke in 1948.
From 1963 to 1985 she worked as the Industrial Nurse at Double Envelope Corp. for Dr. Joseph Baer. Lois loved her Lord, her family, her friends, all flowers and anything purple. She will be deeply missed by her numerous family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Green Ridge Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Mausoleum Chapel in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
