The Virso Recreation and Community Center held a back-to-school giveaway Saturday afternoon that drew 70 to 75 people, including a few Longwood University men’s basketball players and some members of the Special Olympics Area 12 basketball team. Isaiah Walton, Bryan Gee and Spencer Franklin of the Lancers spent some time playing hoops on the outdoor court at the center, and Longwood Director of Men’s Basketball Operations Chris Moore was also in attendance. Backpacks and other school gear was handed out to the youth as arranged by the Virso Recreation and Community Center Board.
