A sneak peek at the lofts

The High Bridge Lofts, located at 312 W. Third St. in downtown Farmville, held an open house for the community Tuesday.
The event, which included self guided tours and lunch, featured Walk2Campus President and CEO Matt King citing that Farmer’s Cooperative occupied the building for more than 60 years.
The “tenants took care of the building long enough to hit a point where the building could absorb the investment needed for a new chapter,” King said.
Tenants will begin moving in Aug. 11.
Julie Smith, Walk2Campus’ vice president of leasing and marketing, said there were approximately five vacancies left in the building.
“We have a couple roommate matches where there’s a bedroom vacancy,” Smith said.
She said the units are unfurnished.
“I think it’s important to say that we really wanted this building to be given back to the community and for the community to always feel free to come and walk in,” Smith said.
She mentioned a community room that she hopes one day will become available for community members to use.
“For now, that’s for our students, and we’ll allow (use by) our students, our tenants, if they have organizations,” Smith said.
Brian Ullrich, Walk2Campus’ chief financial officer, said the company was excited about finally being able to open the building to students of Longwood University.
“It’s been a long road seeing where this was as a Farmer’s Co-op, and turning into this is a beautiful thing,” Ullrich said. “…It’s another caliber of property that we’re able to offer to the tenants and the students of Longwood, and we’re excited about future projects to come.”
In a previous interview, King said the properties will rent for between $640 and $975 per month and include internet, cable TV, parking and water use.
Each loft has a full kitchen, central air and heat, in-unit washers and dryers and hardwood floors.
