Juveniles identified as victims in Saturday shooting

Police in Farmville are investigating a shooting where two juveniles were injured at the intersection of South Virginia and Blanton streets Saturday night.
Farmville Police Chief A.Q. “Andy” Ellington said police responded to the incident at about 7:20 p.m.
“Witnesses stated that a group of four juveniles were arguing with another juvenile when a fight broke out,” police said. “Firearms were displayed during the fight and eventually shots were fired.”
According to a Farmville Police Department press release, the two victims, both 17 years old, were eventually transported to Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
The release cited police remained on scene for approximately four hours processing the scene for evidence and interviewing multiple witnesses.
According to the release, criminal charges are pending as detectives continue to identify and interview witnesses and gather additional evidence.
