Ruritans offer family photo day

Everyone is invited to the Buckingham Ruritans Family Photo Day. Tanisha Jenkins will snap some pictures of people with their families on Sunday from 3-7 p.m., at the agricultural building, 54 Administration Lane, Buckingham. Sign up with any Ruritan member or simply stop by. No pre-registration required. Several different packages available.
Cedar Baptist Church, located at 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, would like to invite everyone to Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday through Thursday from 6-9 p.m. each night for ages 2 through high school. There will also be an adult class beginning at 6:15 p.m. each night. All are invited.
Bored at home this summer? Come out to the Buckingham Extension Services’ 4-H Fun Art Day on Tuesday, June 27 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The one-day program features painting and more for youth ages 5-18. The cost is $35. Bring your lunch and plan to paint a canvas with step-by-step instructions, explore other artistic media, and take time to play outside. Buckingham Extension Services is having the Cloverbud Summer Sensation Day Camp from July 5-7 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This year’s theme is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Exploration and is designed for ages 5-8. Spend time in various activities, including arts and crafts and go on a field trip exploring. The cost is $35. Pack a lunch and come join the fun including plenty of time for games. Pin this on your refrigerator for the month of June: the Central Virginia Community Health Center generally offers regular fitness classes, to include Tai Chi on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., Yoga on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Country line dancing is Thursdays at 10 a.m. then body attack the same day at 6 p.m. Every other Friday offers Toddlers on the Move at 11 a.m. Special free use of gym all day on June 12 and 23. Swimming lessons are being offered in the evening starting in July at the Nazarene Campground across from the middle school. Fees are: early swimmers $25 and all other classes $40. Children will be assessed on their basic water treading abilities and then will work with instructors on developing skills including proper strokes, kicking, floating, breathing, buoyancy and treading. Advanced classes will focus on underwater techniques, diving and stroke development. Classes fill quickly and are limited in size so register now. Quick start tennis is a program that introduces tennis to youth at an early age. This program is available from June 19-23 from 9-11 a.m. at Buckingham High School for ages 6-11.
