Redbud Garden Club met for its annual planning meeting May 23. According to a press release, Liz Dunn and Patsy Miessler served as hostesses. Officers for the 2017-18 club year are pictured, seated, President Janet Higgins, standing, left to right, Treasurer Dottie Fahrner, Recording Secretary Liz Dunn; Second Vice President Joyce Thompson, Handbook Editor Patsy Miessler, Corresponding Secretary Mary Hazlegrove and First Vice President Geraldine Sanderson. “How Tweet,” an arrangement featuring one or more birds, earned blue ribbons for Dunn, Higgins, Ann Ligon, Alice Metts and Sarah Schember. Fahrner, Rebecca Giles, and April McBride received a red. Schember received a blue ribbon for “Capturing Springtime,” which is any line arrangement featuring spring branches, and Ligon received a red. Specimen ribbons were awarded to Giles, two blue, three red, one yellow, and Schember, one blue.
