FARMVILLE — A 41-year-old Victoria woman was charged with failure to yield the right of way Wednesday after striking a 21-year-old man operating a motorcycle at the intersection of South Main Street and Gilliam Drive on June 28.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital following the accident and eventually flown to VCU/MCV for treatment, according to a town spokeswoman.

According to town spokeswoman Kate Pickett Eggleston, April Fitts was traveling northbound on South Main Street in a 2003 Nissan pick-up truck and attempted to turn left onto Gilliam Drive when she struck a southbound 2006 Yamaha motorcycle. Both drivers had a green traffic light, Eggleston said. Farmville police responded at approximately 4:38 p.m.
