Patsy Virginia Hawks, 71 of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at her home on May 14, 2017.

Patsy was born on January 27, 1946 and raised by loving parents Joseph and Gertrude Battle. She was the second of four girls; Janet, Joanie and Donna. Patsy was married on April 2, 1967 to David H. Hawks of Skinquarter. This year they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together they had three children and three grandchildren. Patsy and David were members of Hatcher Baptist Church in Cumberland.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband David Hawks Sr.; son David Hawks Jr. (Dawn) of Salem; daughters, Pamela Parsons (Joseph) of Biddeford, Maine, Patricia Shifflett (Samuel) of Farmville; three granddaughters, Kacie Hawks and Makayla, Maisie Shifflett; three sisters Janet Dunn, Joanie Richards and Donna Vest.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on May 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Hatcher Baptist Church.
