Last week’s rains ceased Friday evening, allowing more than 200 people to enjoy and learn more about the history, traditions and people of Buckingham County during Historic Buckingham Inc.’s annual Mayfest event. The event, held Saturday at the Historic Village at Lee Wayside, included many games for children, mule-driven buggy rides, exhibits, demonstrations, live music, art, face painting and plant sales. Donations were taken at the gates, which went toward the village’s building fund, according to Historic Buckingham President Martha Pennington Louis.
