Joyce Oertel  Ingle, 77, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2017.  She was born on November 13, 1939, to the late Willie and Allie Browning Oertel.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Joyce retired from the Cumberland County Department of Social Services in 1996 after many years of dedicated service.   She was an active member of the Cumberland Red Hatters and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she also served as an Elder and the Chairman of the Fellowship Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Buster” Paul Ingle, Sr., and numerous siblings. 

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ingle Duncan (Mike), of Dillwyn; three sons, Robert Paul Ingle, Jr. (Teresa) of Cumberland, William Kevin Ingle (Tammy) of Cumberland, and Mark Shannon Ingle (Tracey) of Cumberland; brother, Willie Oertel, Jr.; sister, Eliza Oertel Duncan; seven grandchildren, James Duncan (Lacie), Amanda Duncan, Lindsey Stokes (Collin), Bradley Ingle (Lauren), Lauren Whitlow (Michael), Tyler Ingle (Casey), and Ashton Ingle; great-granddaughter, Brooke Penelope Stokes; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
