Frank W. Shanaberger Jr.

Frank W. Shanaberger Jr., 82, of Farmville, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017. He was born in Grapeville, Pennsylvania to the late Frank W. and Irene W. Shanaberger on September 29, 1934.

He was married to the late Mable Healy Shanaberger for 53 years, before her passing on February 24, 2015. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958, as an airplane technician, serving in Washington, California, New Mexico, Illinois and Guam. He remained in the Air Force Reserves until 1962 when he was honorably discharged.

He devoted most of his work career at Shanaberger and Sons, where he was co-owner during some of that time. He also worked at Western Auto, specializing in small engine repair and sales.

He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon, Sunday School director and worked with the Heritage Highlighters. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows, coached little league football and worked with F.A.C.E.S. He enjoyed collecting model cars and trucks.

Mr. Shanaberger is survived by his daughters, Deborah Oliver (John) of Gates, North Carolina and Diane Wiesner of Powhatan, his son, Frank Wayne Shanaberger (Malinda) of Amelia; his grandchildren, Winston “Jamie” Wiesner III, Jack Owens, Tyler Gyoker, Kevin Kangni, Autumn Wiesner, and Grady Owens; his brothers Jim Shanaberger, Bob Shanaberger, and Sam Shanaberger (along with the late Paul Shanaberger and his sister, the late Virginia Huchins); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church in Farmville, with a reception to follow as well as interment at Westview Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.
