A 50-year-old Cumberland County man was arrested April 28 after being charged with neglect and child abuse of his son.
Raymond Paul Turner III was arrested on two charges of abuse and neglect of children by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. James Turney said a call regarding Turner had taken place at the beginning of March, citing concerns of physical abuse that Turner had allegedly shown to his son.
Turney said he and Social Services, after an investigation, had the evidence to arrest Turner.
Turner was indicted on the charges April 25. He has a trial in circuit court scheduled for Aug. 29.
Turner was released on a $6,000 secured bond, Turney said. His son is in the custody of Social Services, Turney said.
Turner previously pled guilty in 2000 to the delinquency of a minor and sexual abuse of a minor, according to online court records.
