The new Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Residency Office will be located across the road from the Southside Virginia Family YMCA on Commerce Road and could see an April 2018 completion. Communications Manager Paula Jones said there was no formal groundbreaking ceremony held to kick off the project. Custom Structures, based in Lynchburg, is contracted to build the facility. She said the facility will cost approximately $2.2 million. The facility will replace VDOT’s Dillwyn residency.
