Students excel in writing contest

Each year the Woman’s Club of Farmville, a civic organization and member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, sponsors a writing contest for all students in Prince Edward County. Students are invited to submit original entries, written during the current school year, in the categories of poetry and short story. Fuqua’s sixth, seventh and eighth graders competed against all other students in their age bracket. The entries that win first place in the club-level contest are submitted to the district-level contest. Students who placed included, from left, Hannah Myers, Mallory Brown, Luke Gee, Bailey Rutherford, Marya Dunning and Hunter Melton. We offer our congratulations to the students.
