CUMBERLAND — The annual Patriot Day event has been canceled.

The celebration was planned to be held on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. at the Cumberland Courthouse.

Cumberland County Administrator and Attorney Vivian Seay Giles said the cancellation was due to expected inclement weather.

No plans have yet been announced as of Friday to reschedule the event.

The free event, held annually, honors service members and has games, assorted food and other activities. Plans for Saturday’s event had included a reenactment and music from the Richmond-based band “Flashback.”
