The Longwood University Chamber Music Series will present a concert by the Amernet String Quartet, from Miami, Florida, on Thursday.
The program is free and open to the public, and will take place in Molnar Recital Hall of the Wygal Music Building at 7:30 p.m., with doors open at 7 p.m, according to a press release.
“The Amernet Quartet includes Mischa Vitenson, violin; Franz Felkl, violin; Michael Klotz, viola, and Jason Calloway, cello. The program will open with the String Quartet in D Major, K575, Prussian No. 1, by W.A. Mozart, which will be followed by Erwin Schulhoff’s String Quartet No. 1. After an intermission, the quartet will perform the virtuosic String Quartet No. 13 in G Major by Antonin Dvorak,” officials said.
“Over the past 25 years, the Amernet Quartet has garnered worldwide praise and recognition as one of today’s exceptional string quartets. Formed in 1991, the quartet has served as Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University since 2004.”
The concert marks a return to the Farmville area for the quartet, according to the release. “It has appeared on the (Longwood University) Chamber Series four times in the past, and it also spent two seasons on the roster of the Hampden-Sydney Music Festival.”
