William Dunnington Sydnor

William Dunnington Sydnor, 75, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dee was predeceased by his parents, Kathryn Chamberlin Dunnington Sydnor and Joseph Williamson Sydnor and a brother, James Dudley Sydnor.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Sheffield Hollomon Sydnor; daughter, Kathryn Sheffield Sydnor Witt and her husband, Walter Francis Witt III; and his beloved grandson, William Mason Witt. He is survived by his brother, William Jennings Sydnor II (Rhonda) and nephew, Nathaniel Terry Sydnor and cousins, Francis Leigh Orgain Jr., Walter Clement Sprye Jr., Dolly Whidden Horner, Kirby Whidden McElroy and Kathryn Sprye Goebel and their children.
Dee was born on January 27, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN then later moved to Farmville. He graduated from St. Christopher’s School in ’61 where he played football and Randolph Macon College in ’65. He began his career at First and Merchants Bank and retired from the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance after 41 years as the Director of Contract Management.
He loved his family dearly and had a passion for the outdoors, the beach and known by most as a master craftsman. He always had a project and could build just about anything.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road, Richmond.
