Cumberland County Public Schools celebrated Virginia School Principals Appreciation week by hosting a luncheon on Jan. 24.

“Principals and assistant principals from all three schools were provided lunch prepared by the students in the culinary arts class,” school officials said in a press release.

“In addition, they were presented with artworks created by students in the art classes from all three schools. Those honored included Jeff Scales, principal of Cumberland High School; Cora Tolliver, assistant principal of Cumberland High School; Jeff Dingeldein, principal of Cumberland Middle School; Wendy Tillett, assistant principal of Cumberland Middle School; Ginny Gills, principal of Cumberland Elementary School; and Kathryn Garrett, assistant principal of Cumberland Elementary School.”

Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week was established by a resolution from Gov. Terry McAuliffe, which set aside the week of January 22-28 for the event.

“Principals Appreciation Week was designed to recognize the hard work of Virginia school principals and the role they plan in ensuring that every child has access to a quality education.”
