Kevin L. Johnston

Kevin Louis Johnston, 46, widower of Mary Kristiann (Jones) Johnston of Broadway, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was born on May 11, 1970 in Richmond, the son of Dover and Wanda Johnston.

He was a graduate of Cumberland High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College. Kevin was employed at Curb Appeal in Harrisonburg and previously worked for Haley Chevrolet, Fourth Street Auto, and Dan’s Body Shop. Kevin was a wonderful father and devoted to his family. He had a significant impact on the lives around him due to his kind spirit and selfless acts, as he was always willing to help.

In addition to his wife, Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dover J. Johnston Jr. and his maternal grandparents, Alvin Schalow Sr. and Mona Schalow Dabney.

Surviving in addition to his parents of Cartersville are two daughters, Mary Louise Johnston and Eileen Margaret Johnston; a son, Kevin Maxwell Johnston, all of Broadway; three brothers, Jeff Johnston and wife, Amy of Powhatan County, Paul Johnston and wife, Linda of Cumberland County, and twin brother, Kenneth Johnston and wife, Cheryl of Cartersville; a sister, Susan Wall and husband, Matt of Charlottesville; paternal grandmother, Audrey Mae (Kirkman) Johnston of Powhatan County; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roderick and Margaret Stump Jones of New Hope; a sister-in-law, Anne Jones Bacheller of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

The family had a private memorial service.
