This month, we celebrate National School Counseling Week. Our school counselors do so much for the young people of our county every day. Take the time to thank them for all they do to contribute to building our students into productive and positive adults. Our school counselors include Palmer Castrodale (primary), Cathy Lightfoot (llementary), Christine Wingert (middle), Sue Miles and Alani Staples (high). Thanks, school counselors.
The Genealogy Committee of Historic Buckingham Inc. is compiling a book titled “Confederate Soldiers of Buckingham Co. VA.” Lynne Henshaw, chair of the genealogy committee, will be composing the book and Farmville Printing will be publishing it. This book will be a great reference for family history research. Several citizens of Buckingham County have contacted Lynne with names of their ancestors who were Confederate soldiers. If you would like to do the same, contact Lynne via email at lynnehenshaw@embarqmail.com, call (434) 969-4233 or write 794 Whorley Town Rd., Buckingham, VA 23921.
