Central Virginia Arts (CVA) invites the community to a reception featuring two residents of Crewe, Karla Ellington and Donna Taylor.
The opening of their exhibit is Feb. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Riverside Café. The cafe is located at 522 N. Main St., Farmville.
Ellington has loved photography as far back as she can remember. She started her professional photography career six years ago when she developed Backpack Memories Photography: Shot by Karla.
The inspiration for her work comes from the world’s canvas as she captures her travels in digital photography. Karla’s photography has been exhibited at Hampden-Sydney College, the Prince Edward County Health Department, Charleys Waterfront Café, the Buckingham Arts Center, Crewe Library, Riverside Café and currently at the Moton Museum.
Artist Donna Gholson Taylor also resides in Crewe. She is a mother of four and a grandmother of eight. Her interest in art started with interior design and art projects when her children were growing up. In recent years, she has developed her fine art skills by taking classes at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School, Longwood Center for the Visual Arts and with local artists.
While her favorite medium is watercolor, she also enjoys working with acrylics, pastels, charcoal and photography. She has exhibited her work at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School, Atkinson Museum at Hampden Sydney College, Longwood Center for the Visual Arts, Riverside Café and many other venues.
This exhibit may be viewed Monday-Saturday from 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through April 1. It is made possible with the cooperation of Riverside Café owners Jean and Parker Wheeler.
Central Virginia Arts, a partner of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, is a non-profit organization offering lectures, workshops, exhibits, tours and socials throughout the year.
