Inclement weather postpones events

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following: Mary Dimmie, of Farmville, and Margaret Cole, of Cumberland, Saturday, Jan. 14; Anita Ford, of Appomattox, Tuesday, Jan. 17; Cecil Ashburn and Junior Trent, of Cumberland, Wednesday. Jan. 18.
Happy anniversary wishes are sent out this week to: Danny and Janet Powers, of Cumberland, and Paul and Elaine Myers, of Dillwyn. Both couples will celebrate their anniversaries on Monday.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut in across Dillwyn and surrounding counties.
The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non- profit organization, will host its regular monthly meeting Saturday at 1 p.m.
The group will host its first kick-off of meetings for 2017 at Welcome Wesleyan Church, 26565 N. James Madison Hwy. in New Canton. All members and prospective members are asked to attend for lunch and a business meeting.

Due to inclement weather, the Cumberland County Community Food Bank will distribute food to Cumberland County residents, including Cartersville residents, on Monday, Jan. 23 from 11:30 a.m. until all food is gone. The event will be held at the old Cumberland County Elementary School Cafeteria, next door to the gym, located at 1874 Anderson Hwy. You must have already registered to get food or you must see Director Jerry Seal. All food recipients, please bring bags.

Also due to the inclement weather, the 2016 Annual Christmas Lunch at the home of James and Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland, has been rescheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
Do’s and don’ts of human food for dogs: Mango is good for dogs. It is packed with vitamin A, B, C, D, E and K. Mango also contains potassium and both beta carotene and alpha carotene. Just make sure you remove the hard pit.
