Communities take care of each other

While the Virginia Department of Transportation, Farmville’s outstanding town crews and state-contracted crews did a fantastic job in clearing snow and ice from state roads across the Heart of Virginia, there were many in their respective communities who pulled out their tractors, blades, front-end buckets and other farming implements to rid roads in Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward of snow and ice. Such was the case in Cumberland County this weekend, where Buddy Wilkerson, pictured, cleared frozen precipitation from Thompson Road. We commend Wilkerson and those like him for thinking of others in helping their neighbors to get out before state crews could get to them.
