The United Way of Prince Edward County has raised more than $27,000 — about 55 percent of its $50,000 goal set to distribute to its 19-partner organizations that provide a variety of services in the community. The United Way makes two allocations each fiscal year, and the first for this year will be at the United Way’s  Jan. 10 meeting with its partners hosted by Charleys Waterfront Café. Last year, the group allocated $30,000 at the January meeting. “I would love to be able to beat that this January,” said Rucker Snead, president of the board of directors for Prince Edward’s United Way. The group is charting its fundraising accomplishment with stars on its board in front of Citizens Bank & Trust Co. on South Main Street. Standing at the board, from left, are Rhonda Arnold, Rucker Snead, Bruce Davis and Lonnie Calhoun.
