On the heels of the planning commission’s approval, I am perplexed as to why this pipeline project isn’t garnering more support from our citizens and business community.

Who in their right mind would argue against a cheap, reliable energy source for our homes and businesses that is significantly cleaner and safer than what we currently use? If the data, our legislators, regulatory body and experts tells us it’s the smart thing to do, why are some people still so adamant about fighting it?

Making sure that Virginia’s energy supply is affordable, reliable and plentiful both today and in the future will help ensure future economic success.

The governor and numerous members of the General Assembly have recognized this and stated on public record that they are supporting the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, and so should we.

If it will lower our energy costs, provide a reliable source of natural gas and generate new jobs, I lend my full support to the development of this integral project.

Let’s keep up the momentum and push this project across the finish line.
