Steven Faulkner, who teaches creative writing at Longwood University, spoke at the November meeting of the Third Thursday Book Club at the home of Alice Johnson. Faulkner is the author of the recently published book Bitterroot Echoes of Beauty & Loss, which recounts his and his son, Alex’s, experiences as they followed the route of explorer Pierre Jean De Smet across the High Plains and then on to the trail followed by Lewis and Clark. They traveled by foot, bike and canoe and were able to experience the vast landscape of the Northwest Rocky Mountains.
