Lewis A. Tyree Jr., 23, of Dillwyn, will have to wait a little longer to go on trial for drug charges stemming from his arrest by Virginia State Police (VSP) in November 2015. His arrest was part of an ongoing investigation, according to the VSP at the time.
Tyree’s trial on one felony count each of marijuana distribution and manufacturing methamphetamines was originally scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday. According to online court information, the trial has been continued to 9:30 a.m. Nov. 21.
Meanwhile, Tyree still faces charges of possession or transportation of a firearm by a convicted felon in the city of Charlottesville. Charlottesville police filed that charge after an alleged shooting incident in The Corner area near the University of Virginia. The next hearing for that case is scheduled in Charlottesville at 1 p.m. Thursday.
According to online Buckingham County court records, Tyree pleaded guilty in 2014 to three counts of marijuana distribution of between greater than 1/2-ounce to 5 pounds.
