FARMVILLE — The town of Farmville is seeking funding from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to perform improvements to select streets. The work would include street milling and paving, Town Manager Gerald Spates said. During Farmville Town Council’s Nov. 9 meeting, members unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing a street maintenance project through VDOT’s revenue-sharing funding.

“That’s a 50/50 match with VDOT,” Spates said. “And, how much VDOT’s going to give us, I don’t know. So, whatever they don’t give us we’ll do under regular street maintenance.”

The town is seeking to perform work on Caitlin, Vernon and Glenn streets, in addition to a portion of North Main Street from the High Bridge Trail crossing to the Appomattox River Bridge, and on Bridge Street from Second Street to Haynes Street. Perry Drive and Park Avenue would also see work. Regular maintenance is set for Jackson and Putney streets, along with Second Avenue and Fourth Avenue Extended.
