Farmville Vice Mayor A.D. “Chuckie” Reid has been appointed to the Virginia Municipal League’s (VML) Executive Committee.
Reid, who represents Ward C on Farmville Town Council, said the appointment came as a surprise to him. He said he was “thankful” and “ready to succeed in the position.”
Reid said it’s the first time someone from Farmville has been on the committee, thanking those who nominated him.
He has served on council since 1986, and chairs the personnel committee and serves on the infrastructure and special projects committees. He’s also a member of the Governor’s Local Government Transition Council, according to a VML press release.
Reid has worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 24 years, and served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
“Reid was elected to the role of town section chair of the executive committee and will serve alongside the city section and urban section chairs,” VML officials said in the release.
The executive committee sets policy for the VML, a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association established in 1905 to improve and assist local governments through legislative advocacy, research, education and other services.
