Linda Mae Everett Hamel

Linda Mae Everett Hamel, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Farmville, on November 10, with her family by her side.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Roger, her sister, Sue VanDusen (Dick); sons Brian and Kelly; grandchildren Kelly, Mitchell, Jenni, Newa, Roger, and Robert; as well as seven great-grandchildren; and her dear friend Edith Robbins of Chemung, NY.

Linda was born in Monticello, NY, and attended high school in Waverly, NY. She and Roger lived in New York, Connecticut, and Florida before they settled in Farmville at RoLin Meadows (named for Roger and Linda) in 2000. A devoted mother and wife, Linda kept an immaculate home. Linda served as a volunteer with Friends of High Bridge Trail State Park and Holiday Lake State Park. For many years, she and Roger hosted Youth Conservation Corps teams at gatherings in their home. Linda also helped organize class reunions held in Waverly, NY, and she took special delight in attending them. At home, she enjoyed playing cards, reading, and putting puzzles together.

Linda will be greatly missed by her family and by many friends from Florida, New York, Connecticut, and Virginia.

In Linda’s honor, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Virginia on November 19, 2016 from noon until 2 p.m.
