Gerald C. Baxter

Gerald C. Baxter, 81, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 in Farmville. He was born in Colville, WA on May 6, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Helen Baxter and his brothers, Leroy and Dave.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Eric Baxter of Colorado Springs, CO and Tammy Richardson of Lynwood, WA and their spouses Valerie and Richard; stepchildren, Steve Solt, Scott Solt and Gwyn McFadden and husband, Mark all residing in Virginia and his seven grandchildren. He attended schools in Spokane, WA. He was a four-year veteran of the Marine Corp and then was accepted into the State Patrol in Washington State. He ended his 28 ½-year career as Captain and the last five years was spent as the head of security for two governors. He was offered a job as Medical Examiner in Las Vegas, NV where he and Sharon lived and had fun for two years. They left the desert to return to Washington for another job that was with the Military Dept. at Camp Murray, WA.  In 2000 he and Sharon moved to Virginia and are still working on restoring a home that was built in 1759.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmville on Saturday, December 3 at 2 p.m.
