Christmas bazaar starts Friday

Remember to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night. I am so glad we are getting back to Eastern Standard Time.

Tuesday is Election Day; please get out and vote. This is very important.

This Friday and Saturday, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church is holding its annual Christmas Bazaar. The event hours are: Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Lunch will be served each day. Stop by for holiday shopping for handcrafted soaps and toiletries, gift’n bag selections, baked goods and a chance to win one of numerous door prizes each day.

Peggy Kelsey recently attended the Southside Club of Hampden-Sydney College social at the home of Harlan and Reed Horton. The new president and his wife were introduced along with others new on the staff and faculty.

Mrs. Pat Smith met her college roommate, Mrs. Carolyn Boyd for lunch in Appomattox on Monday.

Frances C. Moore, grandmother, along with Sandy Bolick and Tracy Carilli traveled to Surry for her grandson, Timothy Wayne Moore’s and Megan Balius’ wedding on Saturday. The wedding was held by the James River in Surry. His father, the Rev. Wayne C. Moore performed the wedding. The couple will reside in Dendron. Tim is in his senior year at Newport News Shipyard. Megan is an EMT in Surrey with the Rescue Squad. She attended Old Dominion in Norfolk.

On Oct. 25, Mrs. Flora Bolt and Mrs. Marie Self toured Saylor’s Creek battlegrounds and the Hillmans House. They ended their tour with lunch at Merk’s Place.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Flora Bolt, Joyce Floyd, Gary Fiscus, Linda Joyce, Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt, and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitlin Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with the congregation on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. The church also invites you to join in each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church, 302 Industrial Park Road, is in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
