The class where it all began

Two years ago in a class on the American presidency co-taught by Dr. William “Bill” Harbour, a longtime political science professor at Longwood University, and Longwood President W. Taylor Reveley IV, students discussed the idea of the university hosting a debate.
Fast forward to this week when the college hosted the sole U.S. Vice Presidential Debate.
“It’s pretty fantastic,” Harbour said as he walked across campus Sunday evening with his wife, Lily Goetz, who teaches Spanish at Longwood. He interviewed with CBS News and other media outlets.
Harbour has been teaching political science for 40 years at Longwood.
He said the students were really excited and many students from his classes ended up volunteering.
He called the debate “a great opportunity” for students at the university.
