Prospect Happy Hats enjoy ‘Tea’ time

The Prospect Happy Hats enjoyed a “Tea” at the home of Betty Meadows on Thursday the 20th. Betty was the hostess and those joining her were Hilda Allen, Doris Bellofatto, Jean Covington, Elfrieda Kerns, Ann Norton, Rita Rountree, Pat Smith, Margaret Stockton, Betty Sumner, Jeannette Tarlton and Elsie Wilson.

Mrs. Dolores Smith, of Stafford, celebrated her 91st birthday on Saturday the 15th. Her grandson, Mr. Charles Smith and his children, Charles Jr. and Brianna, and her friend, Josh, went to visit Mrs. Smith to have lunch together on her birthday. Afterwards they traveled to Unionville to visit their maternal grandfather, Mr. Jack Keaveny.

On Sunday afternoon, Mr. Jeff Smith attended the Meals On Wheels annual picnic held at Wilck’s Lake.

On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith hosted the monthly covered dish dinner for the Faith Bible Fellowship small group. Attending were Mrs. Hilde Watson and Mr. and Mrs. John Utzinger.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows and Mrs. Betty Sumner spent a few days last week at Massanutten Resort in McGaheysville. The weather was absolutely beautiful. 

Jennifer Bolt, Mrs. Judy Bolt and Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the meeting of the Farmville/Prince Edward Society meeting on Tuesday the 18th held at the Farmville Train Station. Ms. Phyllis Gilliams gave a most interesting program on White House Christmas Ornaments. She had on display her collection of the ornaments. Phyllis and Jimmy Hurt gave a presentation on the ornaments. Following the meeting Jennifer, Judy and Flora traveled to McDonald’s for supper.

They and Steve Bolt also enjoyed lunch on Sunday following church services at Bojangles. 

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Gary Fiscus, Linda Joyce, Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger and the members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday. 

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitlin Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel – Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church, 302 Industrial Park Road, is in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

Smyrna United Methodist Church, 3377 S. James Madison Hwy., near Sheppards, will host the Prospect Charge’s Fifth Sunday on Sunday. The Rev. Billy Swan of the Dillwyn Charge will share the slide presentation of his trip this year to the Holy Land at 4 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow at 5:30 p.m. The community is welcome to attend.
